Sustainable Campus Initiative

Welcome to the Sarita Wetland

Sarita Wetland sits in the southeast corner of the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus. It is a remnant of Lake Sarita, which was drained in the late 1800s. Stormwater from the campus and surrounding lands filters through the wetland on its way to the Mississippi River. We are working to improve water quality and wildlife habitat, as well as education and research opportunities in Sarita.
